Welcome to VonSila Kennels, LLC, a “quality” German shepherd breeder/kennel in Upstate NY and Northeast of the US. We are dedicated to raising healthy, clear-headed, large, family and working line shepherds that excel in either environment.
Our German shepherds are registered with the AKC and/or CKC for their lineage, which guarantees the careful research we put into our breeding program. When selecting our foundation dogs, we look into several generations of their pedigree, searching for OFA, PennHIP, HD-SV: HD a-normal (a1) — meaning hips are normal — and (a2) — meaning the dog is good for breeding. It is important that either, and/or all, of the parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents have these ratings in order to adhere to our standards, as we do not breed inferior dogs. We are able to use these ratings as a tool to help select the healthiest foundation dogs, and therefore reduce the occurrence of genetic diseases such as hip dysplasia which is a common occurrence in German shepherds.
We believe a VonSila German shepherd would be an excellent working line or family companion that strives to be a dependable part of the family, but also have the endurance and work ability that makes them suitable for “competition” homes.
If you are looking for an AKC German shepherd breeder with healthy, quality dogs, look no further. Our breeding program has grown throughout the years through our sincere love for canines, creating a lineage of German shepherds that stays true to our goal of quality not quantity. Our dogs are important to us, and we want them to be important to you, too.
When it comes to finding a high quality German Shepherd to add to your family, look no further than VonSila Kennels, LLC in Colorado. Our focus is bringing up German Shepherds that are both healthy and strong, and can be just the companion you are looking for, whether you need a diligent worker or a loyal family friend.
When selecting the males and females to breed, we put in hours of careful research. We look at not just the parents themselves, but their parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents. Their pedigree is checked for OFA, PennHIP and HD-SV, making sure that the parents have normal hips and that they are good for breeding. Our standards are high, and as such it is crucial that most, if not all, of the predecessors of our chosen dogs meet these ratings. With these ratings, we are able to select only the healthiest dogs, reducing the risk of breeding dogs that may suffer from genetic disorders that are common in German Shepherds, such as hip dysplasia. In order to guarantee that our German Shepherds are top quality, and that they come from good bloodlines, they are registered with the AKC and/or CKC.
We take pride in our German Shepherds, and as such, feel that any VonSila Shepherd would make an excellent addition to your home, both as a loyal companion and as a work or competition dog. If you are looking for a high quality, healthy AKC German Shepherd, look no further than VonSila Kennels. We care for our German Shepherds like they are members of our family, and we want to make them an important part of yours as well.
